Discover The Salted Vine Kitchen + Bar

Tucked along 37991 2 Ave, Squamish, BC V8B 0R2, Canada, The Salted Vine Kitchen + Bar feels like the kind of place you stumble into once and then start recommending to everyone. I first visited on a rainy afternoon after hiking the Stawamus Chief, cold and starving, and I remember thinking the space struck the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable. Warm wood tones, soft lighting, and a lively open bar set the mood, while the hum of conversation made it clear this wasn’t just a tourist stop-it was a local favorite.

The menu leans heavily into West Coast ingredients, and that’s not just marketing talk. British Columbia is known for its access to high-quality seafood, seasonal produce, and ethically raised meats. According to Ocean Wise, a Vancouver-based conservation program recognized across Canada, sustainable seafood choices help protect marine ecosystems while maintaining top-tier flavor and freshness. When I asked our server about the salmon, she explained that they prioritize responsibly sourced fish whenever possible. That attention to sourcing showed in the dish itself-perfectly crisp skin, tender center, and a bright citrus beurre blanc that cut through the richness.

On another visit, I tried their braised short ribs, which were slow-cooked for hours until they practically fell apart with a fork. Slow braising is a classic culinary method where low heat and moisture break down collagen in tougher cuts of meat. The result? Deep flavor and melt-in-your-mouth texture. It’s the kind of detail you notice when a kitchen understands technique, not just presentation. The chef’s approach reflects modern Canadian dining trends, where comfort food meets refined execution.

What stands out most is how balanced the menu feels. You’ll find elevated pub classics alongside more adventurous plates. There are shareable appetizers-think crispy calamari, seasonal flatbreads, and creative salads-as well as hearty mains and thoughtful vegetarian options. During one dinner service, I noticed almost every table ordered something different, which says a lot about the variety. A good restaurant doesn’t rely on a single standout dish; it builds a menu where each item can hold its own.

The bar program deserves its own mention. Squamish has grown rapidly over the past decade, attracting outdoor enthusiasts and professionals alike, and with that growth comes a demand for quality craft beverages. The cocktail list here blends local spirits with fresh ingredients, and the wine selection highlights British Columbia vineyards. The BC Wine Institute has reported steady growth in the province’s wine industry, with Okanagan Valley labels gaining international recognition. Seeing those bottles featured here adds a distinctly regional touch.

Service is another strong point. On my last visit, the server walked us through the daily specials in detail, explaining how the kitchen develops features based on what’s fresh and available. That transparency builds trust. Restaurants that rotate seasonal specials often reduce food waste and maximize flavor because they’re working with peak ingredients. It’s a small operational choice, but it reflects a broader commitment to quality.

Online reviews echo similar experiences. Many guests mention the welcoming staff, generous portions, and consistent food quality. Of course, like any busy spot, wait times can stretch during peak hours, especially on weekends when hikers and climbers pour into town. Reservations are a smart move if you’re planning a Friday or Saturday dinner. Still, even when it’s bustling, the atmosphere feels energetic rather than chaotic.

Location-wise, being right in downtown Squamish makes it easy to pair dinner with a stroll through nearby shops or a quick drive to the waterfront. For visitors exploring British Columbia’s Sea-to-Sky corridor, it’s an ideal stop between Vancouver and Whistler. Locals treat it as a go-to for birthdays, date nights, and casual meetups alike.

After several meals here, what keeps me coming back isn’t just one standout plate-it’s the consistency. The kitchen clearly understands flavor layering, cooking methods, and ingredient sourcing. The bar team knows how to balance a cocktail. And the front-of-house staff makes you feel like you belong. In a town that’s growing fast and attracting new dining spots every year, this place manages to stay both relevant and reliable, which is harder than it looks.

  • We enjoyed a lovely dinner at this fine establishment some time ago. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. They make some amazing cocktails and the food is out of this world. The photos trully speak for themselves. We're looking forward to dining here again on our next trip

  • Had a wonderful dinner here. Pad thai, sablefish, coffees, desserts, fresh-baked sourdough bread to start. Absolutely delicious food from start to finish. The pad thai was wonderful, authentic, loaded with fresh vegetables and tofu. A perfect combination of salt, spice and savoury. The sablefish was perfectly cooked with a delicious texture and the broth was incredibly flavourful without being too heavy. Thick-cut home-baked bread was amazing. A delicious salted chocolate cake with ample portions was a nice finish. Mocktail was perfectly balanced with mango and the local BC wine, a Stellar's Jay Brut, delicious. Thanks to the lovely and welcoming Lauren, our server, and her equally generous colleague (whose name we didn't catch) who was also an engaging and warm server. We'll be back!

  • Phenomenal! The charcuterie board was generous and delicious! Who knew duck prosciutto is a thing? And the shaved beet salad was so delicious, my son says he thinks he's now going to crave salad. THAT salad. The pasta of the day was salmon, capers and lemon cream sauce, and The Salted Vine burger was delish! Servers were attentive and friendly. Fantastic experience! Thank you Romain for taking such good care of us!

  • Dined here for my partners birthday and everything was incredible!! The servers were so so lovely, the food was absolutely outstanding, and they brought out a birthday dessert on the house for my partner. The bread for the table is absolutely to die for, freshly made in house!! Really reasonably priced for the quality - will 100% be coming back here!

  • Friendly staff. Good food. We sat on the patio, don't do that. It was windy and dust was getting into our eyes and our food. The charcuterie was okish. The salmon and the pasta were great.
